Don't let mitch fool you...he's a huge, Foster's Oil Can fan.

So much so, back in ~1984 he made a lamp out of Foster's cans for 7th grade shop class. Mine was a Heineken lamp, and I think I kept it until 1999 -- ironically the same year I got married (think Wagon Wheel Coffee Table).

As far as school projects go, it was probably one of the coolest. You took a square base, with 4 small blocks for feet, on top of that you had 4 cans bunched together, on top of that a round base with a single can. A tube went through the middle with a socket on top and the wire through the tube. It was designed to test both our woodworking and electrical skills. The Foster's cans were so big that I think mitch had to use 3 on the bottom instead of the usual 4, and it still look gigantic compared to everyone else's lamps.

The best part was that mitch waited until only a day or two to say that he needed the cans, causing our dad to have to pound all those oil cans. I don't think he's had a Foster's since.
